The baggage conveyor is a belt conveyor (horizontal or inclined, to go up ou to down). It is used for the transport in baggage handling systems (BHS).
MATREX designs and manufactures 4 belt conveyors :
- Baggage collector conveyor
- Feed conveyor
- Sequencing conveyor
- Orthogonal conveyor
Each belt conveyor has a specific function in the BHS. They allow baggage to be transferred in the same direction or to make 90° changes in direction.
Baggage collector conveyor
The baggage collector conveyor is connected to the baggage check-in conveyor. It allows to group the baggage and to move it to the baggage sorting. The baggage can be injected manually by the stewardess (visual injection), or automatically using sensors and an encoder (virtual windowing). It can be installed in the passenger area (brushed stainless steel cladding) or in the baggage area (steel cladding) with a partition wall.
Technical dataBaggage flow | Maximum charge | Speed | Length | Belt width | Overall width (whitout motor) | Belt type |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
900 to 1 200 baggages/hours | 100 kg/ml | 24 m/min | 1,58 to 30 m | 1 000 mm | 1 035 mm | Rigid and anti-static flat belt or No end loop vulcanized belt |
PS: The values are adjustable as needs. |
Feed conveyor
The feed conveyor allows the separation of the baggage to ensure optimal tracking before and after the security check. Baggage separation is achieved by increasing the speed between the feed conveyor and the previous conveyors. The feed conveyor allows the baggage to be injected one by one into the screening machines avoiding the saturation of the sorting lines.
Sequencing conveyor
The sequencing conveyor is used to inject baggage on a baggage reclaim carousel. The injection is carried out with a virtual window system and a baggage presence detection cell located on the carousel in front of the injection area.
Orthogonal conveyor
The orthogonal conveyor allows the transfer of baggage at 90°, from one conveyor to another. To achieve this transfer, the belt must be sliding, rigid and transverse.
Baggage flow | Maximum charge | Speed | Length | Belt width | Overall width (whitout motor) | Belt type |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 800 baggages/hours | 100 kg/ml | 10 to 70 m/min | 1 580 mm | 1 000 mm | 1 035 mm | Rigid and anti-static flat belt or No end loop vulcanized belt |
PS: The values are adjustable as needs. |
Conveyor for deposit or baggage claim
The conveyor for deposit or baggage claim is used for baggage handling at both arrival and departure areas. At arrival area, it allows baggage delivery down to the reclaim equipment. At departure area, it allows baggage handlers to pick-up checked baggage in order to place it on the trolleys to the aircraft.
Weight | Baggage flow | Speed | Length | Belt width | Frame width | Frame height | Height on belt | Belt type |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
100 kg/ml dynamic load and 150 kg/ml static load | up to 2000 baggage/hour following speed | 16 to 40 m/min | min. standard of 1 580 mm | 1 000 mm | 1 035 mm (overall 1300 mm) | 240 mm | 450/500 mm in passenger area | Splippy, rigid and anti-static flat belt |
