Diverters

MATREX designs and manufactures diverters for baggage handling systems with speed, efficiency and fluidity. They are mainly used in automatic sorting system to divert baggage from one conveying line to another. They can also be used to create redundancy between two parallel flows. This allows a control equipment to be bypassed in case of failure.

Pusher - Diverters

The pusher (fast horizontal diverter) is used to sort baggage according to destination or control level. In fact, it allows to eject a doubtful baggage from a conveyor line or to divert to different destination. The pusher is installed on an automated sorting baggage carousel or on a conveyor belt line.

The main part of a pusher is the pusher arm. This is an articulated arm mounted on a ball-and-crank system. It allows the ejection of the baggage at high speeds.

The accessories required for the operation and safety are:

  • Baggage detection sensor to start the ejection movement of the arm
  • Safety grid
  • Additional frame to adjust pusher height to the client need

Soft horizontal diverter - Diverters

The soft horizontal diverter is used to switch series of one or more pieces of baggage. It has an arm with vertical axis conveyor belt. This arm is in the retracted position to let baggage flow on the main line. It is deployed to divert on piece or more baggage to a secondary line.

Vertical diverter

The vertical diverter is constituted with an inclined belt conveyor to sort baggage. This movement of belt is controlled by a motor according to the expected destination. The vertical diverter has the advantage of being compact. It is usually operated in baggage screening or baggage sorting areas.
